Quartz and Epidote from the Hakkari District in Turkey represent one of the world's most aesthetically stunning mineral combinations. These specimens are found specifically in the Hakkâri Province of southeastern Turkey, within the rugged and remote landscapes of the Emet Mountains near Uludoruk, as well as areas around Şemdinli and Yüksekova . The geological conditions here have produced magnificent clusters of clear to smoky, glassy quartz crystals that are often fully or partially covered by a druse of tiny, sparkling dark green epidote crystals . What makes these specimens particularly special is the intense color contrast between the transparent quartz and the vibrant, pistachio-to-forest-green epidote, which sometimes forms in such dense concentrations that it resembles green moss growing on ice . Mined by hand at extreme elevations reaching approximately 17,000 feet up the mountainsides, these crystals are prized by collectors for their exceptional luster, the unusual skeletal formations sometimes present, and the way the small, faceted epidote crystals catch and reflect light when the specimen is rotated .
